Perfect Form - Installation and Initial Update
|
| When you insert the CD (or if
you click on the setupPF.exe file) this is the first screen you will see.
Click "Continue" if you would like to Install. If you have
already installed and are trying to update, click "Cancel." |
![]() |
| This is the next screen you will see when you are installing. Make sure that you have exited other programs and then click "Next." | ![]() |
| After reading the terms of the software license agreement, click "I accept" and then click "Next." | ![]() |
| On this next screen, you can
see that "C:\Program Files\PerfectForm" is being suggested as
an installation folder. If you are satisfied with this, click "Next."
If you would like a different folder you can type it in or click "Choose"
and select from a list of folders on your computer.
Even if you install the program on your local computer you will be able to configure it so the data is saved to your network. Or, you can install once on the network and put a shortcut to it on the desktops of those who will use it. When you are ready, click "Next." |
![]() |
| This screen is suggesting that the icon be placed in the "PerfectForm" Program Group. Click "Next." | ![]() |
| This screen gives you a summary of the installation. Click "Install." | ![]() |
| A screen similar to this one will be displayed until the installation is complete. After it is complete, start the program by double-clicking on the PF icon that will be on your desktop. | ![]() |
| The first time you start the program you will be asked to enter a license key. If you have not already been sent a license key, contact us at (800) 815-7180. If you have been sent one through email the easiest thing to do is to highlight it in the email (make sure you don't include any extra spaces at the end), click your right mouse button and choose "Copy." Then come back to this screen and click your right mouse button and choose "Paste." After you click OK you should get a message that the entry was successful. | ![]() |
| The first screen you see will look like this. You will see that at the top there are four Tabs: Matter List, Matter Info, Forms, and Options. You will always be within one of these tabs. In this picture, Matter List is active but no matters have been created yet, so click on the "New" button. (A matter is an estate, a guardianship, etc.) | ![]() |
| Whenever you create a new matter
you will be asked to type in an identifying name. This will only appear
on the Matter List screen and not on any form. You can change it at any
time by clicking on "Rename."
Click OK when you are ready to move on. |
![]() |
| Next, the Matter Info tab will be active. On the left side of the screen you'll see where you can click on "Standard Information" or "Quick Names" or "Estate and Tax Information." We will explore these shortly. | ![]() |
| The first thing we are going to do is update the forms. Only a basic set is initially installed and you can choose which additional ones you want. Click the Forms tab. One of the buttons that will appear is the Update button. Click it. | ![]() |
| After you click the Update button you will see this screen. If you have an active Internet connection, you can click "Update from Internet." Otherwise, insert the CD and click "Update from CD-ROM." | ![]() |
| This screen demonstrates updating
from the CD. (If you are not updating from the CD go to the next screen.)
When you click "Update from CD-ROM" you will see this screen.
It is showing Drive A: but you have to tell it which drive is your CD drive.
Click the little down arrow to the right of the A:\ and from the drop-down
list choose your CD-ROM drive. If you are not sure which is your CD drive
you can just take a guess (it is usually D:\ or E:\). If you guess wrong
you will simply be told that the update application was not found and
you can try again. When the correct drive is showing, click "Continue."
|
![]() |
| This is the type of screen you
will see next. The actual screen will be different, depending on what "form
packs" are available and which ones you have already received. A form
pack is a logical grouping of forms.
Here you can select the types of forms that you will be using. On the
left side will be form packs that you already have on your system but
for which newer versions are available. On the right are form packs that
you do not already have on your system. Click the boxes in front of the
form packs that you want, and then click "Continue." |
![]() |
| As your forms are being downloaded, you will see a screen that looks like this. If you are downloading from the Internet the amount of time it takes will depend both on the speed of your internet connection and on the number of form packs that you are downloading. | ![]() |
| When the Update is complete, you will see this message. Click OK and the program will exit. | ![]() |
| When you click on the icon to start Perfect Form up again you will see this message. | ![]() |
